Cannabis concentrates are highly potent extracts derived from the cannabis plant, containing high levels of cannabinoids, such as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol), as well as other beneficial compounds. These concentrates are created through various extraction methods that isolate and concentrate the active ingredients of the cannabis plant.

Common types of cannabis concentrates include:

  1. Hashish (Hash): One of the oldest forms of cannabis concentrates, hash is made by compressing and processing the resin glands (trichomes) of the cannabis plant. It can be soft and pliable or hard and brittle, depending on the production method.
  2. Wax: This concentrate has a soft, wax-like consistency and is created through a process known as “whipping.” It contains high levels of cannabinoids and terpenes.
  3. Shatter: Shatter is a type of concentrate that is glass-like and brittle. It is created through a process that involves extracting cannabinoids with a solvent and allowing the extract to cool and harden.
  4. Budder: Budder has a consistency similar to that of butter, and it is created through a process that involves whipping the concentrate during extraction. This results in a smooth and creamy texture.
  5. Live Resin: Live resin is made from fresh, flash-frozen cannabis plants. This process preserves the plant’s original terpene profile, resulting in a concentrate with a robust flavor and aroma.
  6. Oil (Cannabis Oil): Cannabis oil is a liquid concentrate that can be consumed orally, added to food, or used in vaporizers. It is often used for medical purposes and can have varying ratios of THC to CBD.
  7. Rosin: Rosin is created by applying heat and pressure to cannabis flower or hash, extracting the resinous sap. It is a solventless concentrate, as no additional solvents are used in the extraction process.

Cannabis concentrates are known for their potency, offering a more intense experience compared to consuming cannabis flower. Due to their strength, users are advised to start with small amounts and be cautious about dosage. Additionally, the methods of extraction and the final products can vary, so it’s essential to obtain concentrates from reputable sources and adhere to local regulations.
